Thierry Noir’s GOLD Worldwide public art project celebrates sport. Like art, sport has the power to inspire, to unite and to create hope. Sport breaks down barriers and dissolves political and cultural divisions.

ABOUT:
GOLD is a new fully animated digital public art project by Thierry Noir that celebrates the uniting power of sport across ten international cities. This comprehensive new digital body of work inspired by sport is now on display on outdoor screens in public spaces in Tokyo, Seoul, Shanghai, Moscow, London, Kampala, Lagos, Kingston, New York and Los Angeles. Each GOLD artwork on display is completely site specific to its particular location and captures different sporting disciplines.
NOTES:
(i) Tokyo, Seoul, Kampala, Kingston and Lagos all have additional screen locations exhibiting GOLD beyond this published schedule.

THIERRY NOIR:
Thierry Noir (b 1958) is a French artist and muralist based in Berlin known for painting the Berlin Wall illegally in the 1980s. Noir’s bold and seemingly innocent works painted on this lethal barrier were a form of political activism through art and a singular voice of defiance. Noir covered mile upon mile of the Wall with bright and vivid paintings right up to its eventual fall in 1989. Over three decades since, Noir’s iconic visual language still stands for freedom and tolerance.
