Phillips is proud to present Thierry Noir: Gold an exhibition of new paintings, digital animation, mural art, ukiyo-e prints and screenprints in our New York galleries on Park Avenue. In Gold, Noir points out the commonalities between sport and art. Whether physical, emotional, or imaginative, each Gold artwork is a full expression of human potential.

The project began in 2020 as a series of 16-inch tondo studies on canvas which each depicted Noir’s playful signature characters performing a sporting discipline.The next year, the artist created digital animations from this source material and these animations were installed on enormous screens in cities around the world, including Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, New York, Seoul, Shanghai, and Tokyo. The Gold exhibition at Phillips in New York is the culmination of this four year multimedia project in which Noir will also create a 700 sq. ft. mural in the Main Gallery at Phillips.

Gold is open to the public at Phillips in New York from Thursday 25 July through Saturday 10 August. The new large scale Gold series paintings in the exhibition are exclusively available through PhillipsX. The Gold series ukiyo-e prints and screenprints, the first editioned artworks by Noir in eight years, will be published on Phillips’ Dropshop platform on Thursday 25 July.
